Retoucher: Ann Mulqueeney

by Julian Gratton

The Swinton Biker's Champion, shot by Tracey Gibbs and retouched by Ann Mulqueeney on behalf of Red C Marketing, Advertising and DesignI first got introduced to retoucher Ann Mulqueeney by my old Art Director and Creative Partner Simon Rowlands… and ever since I met her I have been constantly amazed by both her abilities as a retoucher and what a wonderful positive person she is… in fact I can safely say that she is someone who goes above and beyond for you every time to deliver truly stunning results.

Whether she is tidying up a fashion shot, smoothing down fabric and ironing out crows feet on a model’s face or undertaking something far more complex that could involve her having to combine up to 20 separate shots to create one stunning visual… Ann’s ‘can do’ attitude means even the most time consuming job is not a chore.

A press insert for Ambrose Wilson shot by Tracey Gibbs, retouched by Ann Mulqueeney and devised, designed and written by Red C Advertising Agency and Online Marketing AgencyOne really nice job Ann did for us was for one of our fashion clients, Ambrose Wilson. Pictured opposite, the finished piece looked absolutely stunning and it’s safe to say that the overall final look contributed a great deal to the press insert that it was used on being a big success for the client… so much so that we replicated the job again this year with a new model.

Ann’s biggest job for us, however, has to be the recent work she has done on the cottages4you stills that will appear in press and on posters up and down the country. The cottage in the city scene that you can see in this posting involved Ann creating new buildings, removing roads A cottage placed in a street of Georgian terraces that was retouched by Ann Mulqueeney on behalf of Red C Advertising Agency, Online Marketing Agency and Design Agency Manchesterand placing in a park in front of the house. She also had to create the city in the background and make the office buildings look more homely by creating windows and adding ‘homely’ touches.

My jaw really did hit the floor, though, when it came to the beach in the garden shot. As well as doing some general tidying up, Ann made the kite fly, added more stripes onto the grass and created the sea crashing in on the shoreline… all of which has made our concept really come to life and create a striking and memorable image which will hopefully work wonders for the client.

Basically… if you’re looking for a talented retoucher with a great attitude… give Ann a call!
