It’s a sister kisser! Account Handing 15 : Creatives 15

by Steve White

Red C's Finance Director, Mark Dowds, is The Equalizer... in the latest game between account handling and creative at Red C Marketing, Advertising Agency and Online Marketing AgencyThere’s been a lot of talk recently about Spain’s sophisticated brand of ‘tip tappy’ football.  But, let’s be honest, it’s not proper football is it!  Last night’s game was all about just that; ‘proper football’.

Prior to the match Account Handling held their first ever tactical team chat where Adrian outlined his three point plan to defeat the ‘evil’ creative department.  Leigh and I actually thought this would consist of taking Lee, Stuart and Keithy P out of the game, but in actual fact they were rather sensible strategic suggestions.  I won’t give too much away but point 3 was asking Leigh not to “shoot at the goal”, but instead to pass the ball to the more “skilled” members of the team.   Classic!

As per normal, the creative department’s tactic was very much based on ‘pass and move’ and keeping the ball.  However, due to an inferior level of fitness within Account Handling this has never been an approach that we could mirror, so we adopted an altogether different style.  We decided we would kick everything that moved and shoot at every possible moment (apart from Leigh who wasn’t allowed to shoot).

Anyway, the game started just like any other with both teams exchanging blows of equal measure.  In fact, there was nothing to separate the teams for the first 40 minutes as we were locked at 8-8.  However, historically it’s at this point that Account Handling start clutching for air, water and medical attention.  Last night was no different.  The Creatives showed no mercy as they took advantage of our failing fitness with a series of long range efforts that rattled the goal.  With 10 minutes to go we were 13 – 9 down.

However, something strange happened.  We got a 5th wind and we began tracking back again, we began throwing ourselves into challenges and we began scoring goals.  With just seconds remaining the ball landed at Mark’s feet with just the keeper to beat.

Gooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!

Mark had scored.

Mark had equalised for Account Handling!

What a game!

I think once Red C's inspirational Creative Director gets back on the field normal service will be resumed and the Creative Department will reign victorious once again…. like the Phoenix from the flames!
