It’s a good job we have Bupa. Creative: 15 – Account Handling: 11

by Julian Gratton

It should have been a yellow card... infuritaed with being beaten again by Red C Marketing's Creative Department... Account handling take to foulingThe history of football is littered with bruising encounters… AC Milan v Internazionale, Ayax v Feyenoord, Bradford v Leeds and now Creative v Account Handling. Despite the incidents on the pitch, though, it was Creative who walked off victorious yet again, having shot 15 glorious goals past their suited counterparts.

The game started off at a blistering pace and it was obvious from the kick-off that Account Handling were going for the jugular, and it was indeed the suited ones who drew first blood with an early goal that rocked Creative… who again were wearing their all black strip… but like footballing Ninjas we hustled, tackled and fired ourselves into a 6-2 lead.

Steve tackled me like this... but 10 times worse... and he only hit my chest

It was at this point that Account Director, Steve White, decided he could take no more… with me bearing down on goal and certain to fire in our seventh goal… he took the executive decision to do something not dissimilar to the picture opposite… but not like that as he only hurt my chest.

The carnage did not stop there and it was soon followed by an ankle injury to our Managing Director, Adrian Rowe… who then had to spend some time in goal. The injuries did not stop, though, for our highly respected leader… Copywriter Stuart Clark won the £100 cash prize for ‘firing the ball into the family jewels of a suited member of Red C’, and late on Freelancer Marcus… who may now find he’s blacklisted… fired the ball at Adrian’s ankle… sending him crashing to the floor.

Despite some hard tackling there were again some silky skills on display. Student Tom showed again his Ronaldo like abilities on the ball… Steve White and Leigh Whitnall teamed up for some quick passing and wayward shooting, whilst FD Mark Dowds ensured Creative did not spend much time on the ball.

Despite their best efforts to thwart the second straight victory for the Creative Department… my Creatives powered to victory with Stuart Clark yet again pulling the strings in midfield and Joe Reaney grabbing some sublime goals… our Freelance additions also equipped themselves well with Nick ‘The Cat’ Jones superb in goal and Marcus ‘Ankle Wounder’ Driscoll playing as if the ball was glued to his feet… that’s Spray Mount for you!

I’ll leave the last word on this match report to The First Assembly of God…

Yes Account handling lost again in the match against Red C's Account handling Department and Creative Department.
