Discover how Gamification can boost your site traffic and increase your salesAt the weekend I got a whole day to myself. No errands to run, no one coming round to see me. It was a rare treat I was determined to make the most of. So what did I do with my time? I got in some online gaming of course.

You see I’m from a generation who have been brought up on a healthy diet of video games. From the illustrious original Nintendo to the not so well known Sega Dreamcast – I’ve played them all. So it comes as no surprise that when I heard about the Gamification of the web and the positive effect it is having for businesses, I had to find out more.

So just what is Gamification?

Gamification is the idea that you can apply the elements that make games fun and engaging to things outside of a game environment… like your standard company or ecommerce website. It’s a technique that is becoming increasingly popular as more and more consumers become addicted to games such as Farmville and enjoy participating in social apps like Foursquare.

A new website for Rangemaster

The homepage for the newly designed Rangemaster website created by Red C Marketing, Advertising Agency, Design Agency and Online Marketing AgencyRangemaster, a brand the within AGA Rangemaster Group, invited Red C to pitch to create a new website, which not only reflected the design standards their appliances are known for, but the functionality and ease of use too.

The website needed to promote the brand to both consumers and retailers, showcasing all of the appliances they sell (not just cookers), and providing all of the information needed to take people through the purchasing journey. Rangemaster were also keen to include some added value to the site that would encourage repeat visits. It was also vital to ensure  that the site incorporated all website functionality best practice as well as be optimised for search engines.

The Arcade Fire, Google Maps and HTML 5

The Canadian band The Arcade Fire have utilised HTML 5 and Google Maps as part of their new music videoMusic videos have always been a source of cutting-edge creativity and have often been where some of the world’s finest Directors have cut their teeth and built their reputations. And the latest music video from Canadian band Arcade Fire continues this tradition thanks to their music video done in collaboration with Director Chris Silk and Google.

Basically, they have created a music video for the song The Wilderness Downtown that allows the viewer to have a place of their choice featured in the video. To create this personalised music video experience, the video uses Google Maps and has been created in collaboration with Google who have used the project to demonstrate the capabilities of the modern web.
