Why I blipping love BlippAR

BlippAR Jurassic ParkLast week I was one of several people who have a passion for Direct Marketing who were asked to do a talk on behalf of TNT about direct marketing in the digital age. One of my fellow speakers certainly won the prize for the brightest pants… bright red… and with his boundless energy and positivity you’d be forgiven for thinking he was a children’s entertainer!

As well as winning the prize for the brightest pants on the day, Stephen Shaw from BlippAR also won the prize for totally exciting me creatively with the BlippAR iPhone app which takes Augmented Reality to a whole new level. Launched in the summer of 2011, BlippAR is a free smartphone app that uses the in-built camera to recognise things in the real world and instantaneously provides you with digital connections, information or interactive entertainment on your phone screen.

Brand advertising at music festivals

Anna Chan at Hurricane FestivalThis summer, to me, was a summer of firsts. I visited Prague, which boasts the largest nightclub in Central Europe, attended my first Mexican themed party, finally finished reading American Psycho, and survived my first music festival. The Hurricane festival was held in Scheeßel, Germany. The festival itself also held many firsts, my first time camping, first time visiting Germany, and my first experience of port-a-loos. Eek!

Before I arrived in Germany I had some preconceptions of the festival experience. I knew I’d be battling the crowds to be at the front for the Foo Fighters, I knew it would be dirty and grimy, and I had already prepared myself for the shower and toilet facilities, as well as waterproofing my outfits for the inevitable downpour and muddy fields.

MoSoSo explained and how Advertisers are going to exploit it

p11aSo, there you are having a little shopping trip in town by yourself when all of a sudden your phone bleeps! Instead of a text message or a voicemail or even a new email… this bleep is a notification of a different kind.

It’s a friend who has been alerted by their MoSoSo App that you’re in the vivcinity and they suggest meeting for a drink. Or they may not be in the area, but they have checked their MoSoSo app and seen where you are, so suggest you take a look in a certain shop. Sound scary? Well this is just one of the ways MoSoSo Apps are being used by people…
