2008. A vintage year for Red C

As the end of year approaches everyone takes the opportunity to look back before we look forward into 2009. So I thought I’d take some time to highlight several key achievements made by Red C this year in the world of Direct Marketing and Advertising. Here’s just five reasons why this has been a vintage year for Red C.

1. An award winning direct marketing and advertising agency

This year Red C achieved something that we have never done before. We became finalists at the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Awards in two categories. An achievement not matched by any other Direct Marketing or Advertising agency outside of London this year.

The DMA Awards are the biggest and best in the Direct Marketing industry, attracting approximately 1,000 entries each year. There are 33 categories reflecting each sector of the direct marketing arena. Campaigns are judged on strategy, creativity and results and each category has 3 winners, collecting Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Winning at the DMA Awards is a great indicator that the strategic thinking and Account Handling sections of the agency are working in total harmony with the Creative side. Which is something I know a lot of people at Red C have worked hard at achieving.

2. Explored new worlds

It’s fair to say that Red C is not the same agency it was when it opened its doors 15 years ago. In fact it’s not the same agency that I joined three years ago. Why? Well it all comes down to how we’ve taken great strides in exploring the opportunities afforded to us by the Internet.

We’ve been experts for a number of years in e-marketing, but this year has seen us create opportunities for ourselves and a major client in Second Life. We’ve also built some niche Social Networks for our clients and exploited the opportunities available to marketers through Facebook.

These steps deeper into the online world mean that Red C is more media neutral than ever and has laid the groundwork for us exploring the web further in 2009.

3. Beat the best

We’ve always known that Red C is staffed by a great bunch of talented individuals who understand the importance of coming together as a team. This year they’ve come together to win some fantastic pitches against some very tough opposition. Opposition that we have often looked up to and held up as the best in the business… to know that we are now beating them in competitive pitches goes to show that we too are one of the best Direct Marketing and Advertising Agencies, not just in Manchester, but in the UK.

4. Done ‘our bit’ for charity

This year, like many years before it, Red C has supported a number of Charities. We conducted a poster campaign to promote responsible drinking to the over 50s for Manchester’s NHS Primary Care Trust. We’ve also taken the local Mental Health Charity 42nd Street under our wing and created some fantastic radio adverts for them. Next year we’re hoping to help 42nd Street even more and are already giving them some much needed strategic advice to help them raise funds to keep their doors open.

5. Built new Brands

From new Brands in Home Shopping to new Brands in the world of Process Improvement, Red C has used its knowledge and ‘under the skin’ approach to create some successful launches. We’ve also ensured the Brands we have launched in the past have continued to grow and improve this year, so they’ll continue to thrive in 2009 and beyond.

So there you have it. Five reasons why 2008 has been a great year for Red C. 2009 is now just round the corner. We’ve set the bar high this year but everyone here is confident that 2009 could actually be the best year yet at Red C.
